We believe that to discover Transylvania, its countryside and its people you must experience them. You will find live history in unspoiled villages and impressive fortified churches unique to Transylvania. A large choice of nature-bound activities will make you get back in touch with genuine natural environment: Everything from bird watching through to bear tracking and horse-cart driving.
Our locations are ideally situated to venture into three of the most defining regions of Transylvania: The Saxon Land, the Szekler Land and the Carpathian foothills. We recommend combined stays at all places, i.e., 5-7 nights at Miklósvár and 3-4 nights at Zalánpatak. At Miklósvár and Zalánpatak, we offer a number of culture and nature excursions, one of each taking place every day. They are directed by our historical/cultural [Miklósvár] and forester guides [Zalánpatak].
Zalánpatak is very isolated and once you’re there you will be immersed in our natural environment and be shown around by the resident biologist (see Zalánpatak activities).
Winter is a very special season transforming our villages into settings of fairytales and allowing animal tracking in the snow. See activities here.
Christmas and New Year: Festive dinners and live music, village children singing carols, horse-drawn sleigh rides under thick fur blankets sipping mulled wine to the sound of the sleigh’s bells...
Honeymoon & Valentine’s Day: Escape to magical Transylvania: Fairytale atmosphere, remoteness and slow pace of life create an ideal setting for finding true harmony for honeymoons and Valentine’s Days.
Family Holidays: Please watch this short film (1,45 min.) which caught some impressions of a family’s weekend stay at Miklósvár. Families enjoy preferential rates on the estate.
Hiking: All locations are ideal for hiking. The Prince of Wales often walks through flower meadows that are said to be unique in Europe: Follow his steps.
